How to Verify a Chinese Cable Factory: 6 Checks Before You Order
Sourcing power and control cable from China can cut project costs significantly — but only if the supplier is real. These six checks are what experienced EPC procurement teams use before placing a first order.
1. Confirm it is a manufacturer, not a trading company
Ask for the business licence and check the registered scope includes wire and cable production. Look the company up on Qichacha or Tianyancha. A real factory can show extrusion, stranding and armouring lines on a live video call — not just a warehouse.
How CTT meets this: CTT Cable has manufactured in Shenzhen since 1983 on a 100,000 m² production base. See our factory photos on the About page.
2. Verify every certificate at the source
Never trust a PDF alone. Check the certificate number on the issuer's own database (UL Product iQ, TÜV Rheinland Certipedia, IECEE CB database, BSN for SNI). Confirm the holder name and the factory address match.
How CTT meets this: Our CE, UL, TÜV, IEC, IECEE CB, SNI and CCC documents are published in full so buyers can check each number.
3. Ask for an accredited in-house test lab
A CNAS (ISO/IEC 17025) accredited lab means routine and type tests are traceable. Ask for a sample test report on conductor resistance, insulation thickness and spark test.
How CTT meets this: CTT operates a CNAS-accredited testing centre (L16169).
4. Rule out CCA and undersized conductors
Copper-clad aluminium is the most common fraud. Specify Class 1/2 copper to IEC 60228, and test DC resistance per km on arrival. Weigh a metre of conductor and compare with the nominal cross-section.
How CTT meets this: Every CTT drum ships with a factory test report against IEC 60228.
5. Check real project references you can call
Ask for named projects with contract dates — not logos. Ask to speak with one contractor client. Large utility and metro projects are hard to fake.
How CTT meets this: 87 contracts above ¥5M (2023–2026, ¥1.13B total), including State Grid, CSCEC and the Jakarta MRT Phase 2 supply chain.
6. Agree on third-party inspection before shipment
Book SGS, BV or Intertek for pre-shipment inspection and witness testing. A genuine factory welcomes it; a trader often delays.
How CTT meets this: We support third-party and client witness testing at our facility.
